Android menus differ by brand, but the idea is the same: add a digital SIM, name it, and use it for data when you land.
Buy first in the Abroad app. Then install while you still have Wi‑Fi. Need a destination? Thailand eSIM, UAE eSIM, and France eSIM are common trips.
Google Pixel
- 1Open Settings → Network & internet → SIMs.
- 2Tap Add SIM or Download a SIM instead.
- 3Follow the Abroad in-app prompt, or scan the QR if shown.
- 4Name the line Abroad. Set it as the mobile data SIM when you arrive.
- 5Turn on roaming for that SIM only.
Samsung Galaxy
- 1Open Settings → Connections → SIM manager.
- 2Tap Add eSIM.
- 3Scan the QR from Abroad, or use the app’s one-tap flow if offered.
- 4In SIM manager, set Mobile data to the new eSIM after you land.
- 5Enable data roaming on the eSIM; leave it off on your home SIM.
A few Android-specific notes
- Some carriers hide “Add eSIM” until a software update. Check for system updates first.
- If you have two physical SIMs and no eSIM slot in software, the phone likely does not support eSIM.
- Battery savers can pause new networks. Disable extreme battery mode during first attach.
