How to check if your phone supports eSIM
The fastest ways to confirm eSIM compatibility: *#06#, Settings, and a short list of common iPhone and Android models.

You do not need a spreadsheet of 400 models. Three checks cover almost every traveler.
The 10-second test
Open the Phone app and dial *#06#. If the screen lists an EID (a long number, separate from IMEI), your device has eSIM hardware.
Check Settings
- iPhone: Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM. Install tutorial.
- Pixel: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Add SIM. Android tutorial.
- Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM manager → Add eSIM.
Common yes / not yet
- Usually yes: iPhone XS and later, recent Pixel, recent Galaxy S and Z series, many flagship Motorola and other Androids.
- Often no: older Androids, some US carrier variants, phones sold as Wi‑Fi-only, and devices with no EID.
Hardware is only half of it. If the phone is carrier-locked, ask the carrier to unlock it before your trip, then buy a travel eSIM in Abroad.
Questions
EID is the eSIM identifier. If *#06# shows an EID, the hardware can hold an eSIM.
Carrier locks, region SKUs, and older software can still block eSIM. Update the OS and confirm the device is not locked to a carrier that forbids eSIM.
Confirm an EID first, then read our non-PTA eSIM Pakistan guide for honest expectations and setup.
